Is buying direct from a factory always better?
A factory may be strong at production and weak at specification control, export communication, testing coordination or exception handling.
Direct access removes one layer, not every risk
The production source may offer a sharper unit price, but price is only one part of landed order performance. Written specifications, sample control, testing, packaging, export documentation, route selection and issue handling still need an owner.
Factories are designed to manufacture
Many production teams reasonably focus their time on manufacturing. International buyer communication, small mixed orders, private-label details and destination-specific delivery may sit outside their strongest processes.
The useful question is who controls the gaps
A China-side procurement manager earns a role when it independently checks the source, records the commercial basis, coordinates outside testing and owns exceptions across supplier, laboratory and carrier. That is operational control, not another layer of anonymous resale.
